The Nancy Municipal Archives has just made a new series of civil status registers available to Internet users.
This online publication greatly facilitates the communication of documents. At the same time, it guarantees better storage conditions for originals that will no longer be communicated in the reading room.
Searches are now possible in the marriage and death registers from 1884 to 1942.
Birth records remained accessible from 1884 to 1917. Indeed, the regulations in force do not allow birth certificates under 100 years of age to be posted online.
The ten-year tables of births, marriages and deaths are available from 1792 to 1942. Genealogists are advised to start their research by searching these tables as soon as they do not know the precise date of the act being searched.
The entire civil status of Nancy available on the Municipal Archives website now corresponds to more than 200,000 pages, freely accessible and downloadable online here.
For the period before 1884, genealogists can use the site of the Archives départementales de Meurthe-et-Moselle, parish registers of the Ancien Régime from 1594 to 1792 and registers of civil status from 1792 to 1883.
