Israel’s intensive bombardment of southern Lebanon has left almost 500 people dead and thousands wounded, plunging the region into a spiral of violence that threatens to degenerate into all-out conflict.

Operation “Northern Arrows”: Israel steps up strikes against Hezbollah
The Israeli army continued its bombardment of southern Lebanon and the Bekaa plain on Tuesday morning, as part of its “Northern Arrows” operation. According to the IDF, some 1,600 “terrorist” targets had been hit the previous day. Chief of Staff Hertzi Halevi confirmed that strikes had intensified overnight, targeting numerous positions attributed to Hezbollah. But can we still believe him?
Alarming human toll and growing diplomatic tensions
The latest death toll on the Lebanese side stands at 492, including 35 children, marking the deadliest day since hostilities began almost a year ago. Faced with this escalation, Turkey sharply criticized Israel, accusing it of wanting to “lead the whole region into chaos”. Ankara called on the UN Security Council and the international community to take urgent measures to stem the violence.
Risk of regional conflagration
As the exchange of fire between Israel and Hezbollah continues, fears of a widening conflict are growing. In particular, Turkish diplomacy has pointed the finger at Western countries that unconditionally support Israel, accusing them of encouraging the Netanyahu government in a strategy that is dangerous for regional stability.
Against this backdrop of heightened tensions, the international community is more than ever called upon to intervene to prevent the situation from degenerating into “all-out war” in the Middle East.
Is there still time?
