Several French and foreign media have picked up information from Renaud Muselier, president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, according to which an order of protective masks intended for the Grand Est region was bought back at twice its price and paid for in cash by “Americans” and sent to the United States.
The president of PACA recalls that the presidents of the region have joined forces to make an order of 60 million masks. We know that the Grand Est region ordered 5 million.

Delivery in three stages
Intelligence taken, the Grand Est Region claims that its masks ordered in China have not been diverted even though President Jean Rottner has noted “that this exists”. Indeed, “the delivery of the 5 million masks is done in three stages”, the region specifies. “Two days ago, we received a first delivery of 2 million masks. Tomorrow we will receive the second part of the order and the day after tomorrow the third part. »
4 Million masks for Spain
In Lyon, according to our colleagues in the Express, four million face masks were “requisitioned” by France on March 5, two days after the decree of requisition of medical equipment signed by Emmanuel Macron.
These were masks belonging to the Swedish company Mölnlycke, a giant in the medical sector specialising in disposable products (masks, gowns, etc.) and destined for Spain and Italy, two of the countries hardest hit by the lepidemic.
Finally, according to the Progrès de Lyon, the General Secretariat for Defence and National Security (SGDSN) agreed to let half of these masks go to Italy and Spain “by way of derogation”.
