A heat wave is hitting France and will be particularly strong from Wednesday until the weekend, warns Météo France.
Canicula takes its name from this very bright star in the constellation of the Great Dog, called Canicula by the Romans and now Sirius. From the end of July to the end of August, it rises at the same time as the sun.
This heat wave, early, will begin in the south of the country before spreading throughout France. Météo France specifies that this rise in temperature is due to a low-pressure system located between the Azores and Madeira, which favors the upwelling of warm air over Western Europe.
From Wednesday to Sunday
This hot air is already present on the Iberian Peninsula, the Aemet (Spanish national weather service) has issued a heat wave warning.
In France, the maximum temperatures should reach or exceed 35 to 38 degrees Celsius in the middle of the week and the minimum temperatures will not go below 20 degrees Celsius.
The peak of intensity of this episode is expected between Thursday and Saturday. However, the uncertainties on the geographical location as well as on the intensity of the highest temperatures are still very marked at the moment.
On construction sites, in the office, in the classroom
High heat is not a health risk: risks of dehydration, exhaustion, heat stroke … Especially for the elderly who must hydrate regularly.
Working during a heat wave can also present health risks. Every employer is obliged to take the necessary measures to ensure the health of its employees under Article L4121-1 of the Labour Code. This requires them to provide water fountains or bottles of water, and to air and ventilate the offices. For outdoor work sites, such as construction, working hours and conditions must take into account high temperatures so as not to endanger employees.
Finally, we remind you that the baccalaureate philosophy exams will take place this Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
Good luck to all.
