French cinema legend Alain Delon has died at the age of 88. Born in 1935, his film career, which began in the 60s, was one of the most remarkable and flamboyant in French cinema.

Alain Delon began his film career in the late 1950s. His first major role was in René Clément’s “Plein Soleil” (1960). The 60s and 70s were the actor’s most prolific years. He appeared in numerous films that became classics, including:

  • Luchino Visconti’s “Rocco and His Brothers” (1960)
  • “Le Samouraï” (1967) by Jean-Pierre Melville
  • “La Piscine” (1969) by Jacques Deray
  • “Le Clan des Siciliens” (1969) by Henri Verneuil

In the 1980s-1990s, Delon continued to star in successful films, while also beginning to produce:

  • Bertrand Blier’s “Notre histoire” (1984)
  • “Parole de flic” (1985), which he also produced.

Although less active in the cinema from the 2000s onwards, he still appears in a few films and TV movies.

Throughout his career, Delon has played dark and ambiguous characters, becoming an icon of French and international cinema. He is known for his physical beauty and on-screen charisma.
Delon has also received several honors, including a César d’honneur for lifetime achievement in 1985 and a Palme d’honneur at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.

Alain Delon’s relationships with women have often been the subject of comment. His love life was marked by several important and sometimes tumultuous relationships. Here’s an overview of his most notable relationships:

  • Romy Schneider: One of his most famous relationships. They became engaged in 1959 after meeting on the set of “Christine”. Their relationship lasted until 1963, and remained emblematic even after their separation.
  • Nathalie Delon: He married her in 1964. They had a son, Anthony Delon, born in 1964. The couple divorced in 1969, but remained on good terms.

  • Rosalie van Breemen: His last publicly known companion. They had two children together: Anouchka (b. 1990) and Alain-Fabien (b. 1994). Their relationship lasted from 1987 to 2001.

Delon has had a reputation as a seducer throughout his career. His relationships have often been in the spotlight, sometimes controversially. He also fathered four children from different relationships.

Delon and his children

Alain Delon had several children from different relationships, each following their own path, sometimes in the spotlight because of their father’s notoriety.

  • Anthony Delon, born September 30, 1964. His mother, Nathalie Delon (née Francine Canovas). Anthony Delon is himself an actor, as well as an entrepreneur. He has appeared in a number of films and TV series, although his career has not reached the same level of stardom as his father. He is also known for his involvement in various businesses, including fashion, with the launch of a leather clothing line.
  • Anouchka Delon was born on November 25, 1990. Her mother, Rosalie van Breemen, is a Dutch journalist and model. Anouchka Delon followed in her father’s footsteps by becoming an actress. She made her stage debut alongside her father in 2011 in the play Une journée ordinaire. She has also worked in television and film, albeit more discreetly. Anouchka is known for her discretion in relation to media coverage, but she has appeared on several occasions with her father at public events, underlining their close relationship.
  • Alain-Fabien Delon was born on March 18, 1994. His mother is Rosalie van Breemen. Alain-Fabien Delon is an actor and model. He has modeled for several prestigious fashion brands and has also appeared in a number of films. His first film role was in Les rencontres d’après minuit in 2013. In 2019, he published a novel entitled De la race des seigneurs, which attracted media attention. Like his brother Anthony, Alain-Fabien has occasionally made headlines for family conflicts or public statements, but he seems to have found a certain stability in his career as an artist.

Despite the complexity of his family relationships, Alain Delon seems to have a close bond with his children, even if this relationship has evolved over time and has sometimes been marked by tensions.
