A group of twenty Members of the European Parliament have co-signed a petition jointly mounted by Euro-Med Monitor and RSF. They ask the Israeli authorities to guarantee the freedom of movement of dozens of Palestinian journalists blocked by Israel.
This is the case of Majdoleen Hassona, RSF Award 2021 in the category of Independence. The journalist of the Turkish channel TRT has been blocked by the Israeli authorities since August 2019. She is subject to a ban on leaving the territory issued by the Israeli intelligence services “for security reasons.” The authorities have also prevented her from collecting her RSF award. To apply pressure, the campaign #LetMajdoleenOut was launched on social networks in December.
Through this petition, Euro-Med Monitor and RSF, together with MEPs, call on Israel to stop any further harassment, intimidation or blackmail against these Palestinian journalists. If you wish to support RSF’s actions, you can make a donation at donate.rsf.org.
