Government : The promoted, the fired

After a few weeks of vacillation between the Élysée and Matignon, the Borne 2 government will meet in full this Friday, July 21, with President Macron in the Council of Ministers.

No major upheavals, with the exception of two or three ministers fired and two or three others integrated. In the end, it’s business as usual. The Borne 2 government will resemble the Borne 1 government: insipid and tasteless.

To sum up. Marlène Schiappa, former Secretary of State for the Social Economy, is fired. The Élysée and Matignon did not appreciate her interview in the glamour magazine Playboy. Then there was the Marianne fund scandal, in which she completely discredited herself. Exit then.
Pap Ndiaye never succeeded in imposing himself in this great Ministry of National Education. He made several major blunders, the last of which was accusing billionaire Vincent Bolloré and journalists from CNews and Europe 1 of being far-right. Redhibitory.
François Braun, an emergency doctor from Moselle, was sacked for his poor health record as head of the Ministry during the Covid crisis.
Olivier Klein, an unknown figure who until now had been Minister Delegate for Towns and Housing, leaves his post.

The new appointees

Gabriel Attal, previously Minister Delegate in charge of Public Accounts, leaves Bercy for Rue de Grenelle. A fine promotion for this loyal follower of the French President, who takes over from Pap Ndiaye.
Aurélien Rousseau, former chief of staff to Élisabeth Borne, becomes Minister of Health. Philippe Vigier, MP (MoDem), becomes Minister Delegate for Overseas France. Aurore Bergé, president of the Renaissance group in the French National Assembly, is appointed Minister for Solidarity (replacing Marlène Schiappa). Patrice Vergriete, Mayor of Dunkerque, becomes Minister for Housing, replacing Olivier Klein.
Renaissance MP Fadila Khattabi has been appointed Minister Delegate for the Disabled. Bouches-du-Rhône MP Sabrina Agresti-Roubache has been appointed Minister Delegate for Urban Affairs.
The entire new government will attend the first Council of Ministers meeting at the Élysée Palace on Friday.
Let’s get to work!
