israel-Iran : Toward World War III?

On the sixth day of the conflict, reciprocal strikes are multiplying between the two belligerents. The United States is preparing to enter the war. China is providing military support to Iran.

The information coming out of Iran and Israel must be treated with great caution, as AI-amplified propaganda has become a weapon of war in its own right. Even the images broadcast on some television channels are sometimes misleading and can fool even the most expert observers.

Heavy human and material losses

The fact remains that the war launched by Israel against Iran on June 13, 2025, has reached a point of no return. Thanks to its highly effective intelligence service, the Jewish state carried out surgical strikes on key targets during Operation Rising Lion. Several senior officials of the Mullahs’ regime were eliminated on the first day of the war, along with scientists specializing in the nuclear industry. The objective was to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The strikes inflicted considerable damage on nuclear and military sites and spared neither hospitals nor state television. Nearly 500 people were killed and 1,600 wounded.

Tehran’s response

Iran retaliated with barrages of drones and ballistic missiles, reaching Israeli territory despite the Iron Dome. Tel Aviv and Jerusalem were hit. The Haifa refinery was severely damaged. The Weizmann Institute of Science was partially destroyed. According to information from Iran and its allies, the site of Unit 8200 near Herzliya (the Glilot base) was hit by an Iranian missile. This unit houses the military intelligence directorate of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
On the Israeli side, there are at least 24 dead, dozens injured, and significant material damage.

the internationalization of the conflict

On June 17, President Donald Trump abruptly left the G7 meeting in Canada, concerned about the situation in the Middle East. He called for the unconditional surrender of the Mullahs’ regime. In the wake of this, the United States deployed fighter jets to the area. The Nimitz nuclear aircraft carrier, the most powerful in the world, also joined the area.
At the same time, China is not standing idly by. Its economy is too dependent on Iranian oil.
We know that the Middle Kingdom is providing substantial military aid to Iran. Cargo planes have landed in Iran without the contents of their cargo being known. Other BRICS member countries could be shipping weapons to Iran and neighboring countries to counter the Israeli offensive. Pakistan would not hesitate to use the atomic bomb if Israel were to use it to strike Iranian sites.
We are far from the de-escalation desired by the European Union or the UN. On the contrary, everything indicates that we are heading toward World War III.
